Parents Coalition of British Columbia

Welcome to the PCBC Homepage!

The Parents Coalition of British Columbia is a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating, encouraging and preserving the loving bond between children and each parent equally upon relationship breakdown.

We believe that separation and divorce should have no bearing on the right of the child to the full benefit of the natural attributes of both of their parents, grandparents, and extended family members. Too often, in the Family Courts of British Columbia and across Canada, children are awarded like prizes in a contest. To make matters worse, some parents consciously or unconsciously denigrate the other parent causing the children to become emotionally, and eventually physically, alienated from that other parent. Too often, the non-custodial parent is reduced to being more of a visitor in their children's lives than an active role model, and sometimes they have no place at all. The confused children are caught in the middle and they suffer.

Children deserve to be free to love both their parents. Unless a parent is proven to be negligent or abusive, children need the modeling of both parents in order to develop into emotionally healthy adults. Children benefit from knowing their grandparents and extended family members. Parents who truly love their children will encourage and support the relationship between their children and the other parent because that is what the child needs and wants, and it is in the best interest of that child.

The PCBC strives to:

  • Provide support for custodial and non-custodial parents and grandparents who are involved in legal proceedings surrounding divorce and separation.
  • Educate the government, media, and general public on the importance of equal parenting.
  • Support and encourage seniors to foster grandparent-grandchild contact by sharing their skills, experience, and wisdom.
  • support and encourage individuals actively in other parts of the Province to form like-minded groups and join our coalition.
